The much-awaited second season of Sweet Home K-Ddrama is arriving soon. And if you're one among those who asked the billion-dollar question: is Sang-wook dead in Sweet Home, we've got some answers.

Of course, we don't know the answer yet at this point. But we're sharing some of the answers that the new trailer revealed to us. There might be a few spoilers here, but if you already watched the trailer, we're not revealing anything outside of it. So let's talk about Sang-wook's status before Sweet Home Season 2.

Of course, let's start with the most important question: is Sang-wook dead at the end of Sweet Home Season 1?

When the first season of Sweet Home ended, there were a lot of hanging questions. If you can recall, Pyeon Sang-wook (played by Lee Jin-wook) appeared to have died at the end with Park Yoo-ri (played by Go Youn-jung) in his arms.

The villainous monster, Ui-Myeong (played by Kim Sung-cheol) shot at them from behind. Yoo-ri tells Sang-wook not to look back and they continue to run towards a car.

The two had a sweet moment just before they died, or at least Yoo-ri died. This is because, at the end of the first season, we see Sang-wook driving a military truck with Cha Hyun-soo (played by Song Kang) inside.

Since Sang-wook doesn't appear to have any facial scars in this scene, this raises a few questions about whether it is really Sang-wook.

Some believe that this could have been Ui-Myeong, who survived and managed to turn into Sang-wook as a way of tricking Hyun-soo. Another possible theory that this could be Ui-Myeong is because he called Hyun-soo by his full name.

The real Sang-wook doesn't do that.

Since Sweet Home is based on a webtoon, let's consult the source material. Does Sang-wook die in Sweet Home, the webtoon? Well, no. But let us clarify something.

See, the live-action adaptation of Sweet Home doesn't stay loyal to its source material. In fact, one of the major characters in the series (Lee Si-young' Seo Yi-kyung) was exclusively created for the K-drama. With this logic, it's possible that the series of events could change.

And again, some small and big details regarding Sang-wook have been changed in the Kdrama. For starters, he is called Wook Pyeon in the webtoon. The source material also describes him as a former police detective who is always mistaken for a thug.

Although the latter is the same in the Kdrama, Sang-wook is not a police officer. In fact, he is just a mysterious man who is perceived to be a gangster because of his scars.

Another important change in Sang-wook's story is that Yoo-ri is his love interest. In the webtoon, both manage to survive as they settle at the camp. While we may be left with some questions regarding Sang-wook's fate in the Kdrama, we unfortunately know what happened to Yoo-ri.

This tells us that the Kdrama doesn't necessarily follow the series of events in the webtoon so there's still hope that Sang-wook is alive in Sweet Home Season 2.

Okay, so here's the interesting part. So we know that Lee Jin-wook is returning to Sweet Home Season 2 either as a human or a monster.

Because of how the first season ended, many believe that he could have been Ui-Myeong's shape-shifting monster. But in the newly released trailer of Sweet Home Season 2, we see otherwise.

It's possible that Sang-wook has turned into a monster and developed powers. We're thinking that his inner desire is to get revenge on everyone who ever thought poorly of him, which seems to coincide with how his monster state looks at humans in the trailer.

But again, could this be Ui-Myeong?

As one fan pointed out, monsters can't heal their previous injuries or wounds. This is evident in the self-harm scars that are still present on Hyun-soo even after he has monsterized.

With this theory, Sang-wook's facial scars couldn't have healed after he turned into a monster since he got them from a burn in his younger years.
