Lyle's Disappearance in Boy Swallows Universe Explained
Lyle Orlik is the stepfather of the main characters Eli Bell (played by Felix Cameron) and Gus Bell (Lee Halley), but he also happens to be the drug-dealing boyfriend of their mother Frances "Frankie" Bell (Phoebe Tonkin).
Though the series portrays him to be somewhat of a good father looking after the boys, his involvement in the drug business lands him somewhere far beyond the life he could've had with the Bell family.
Boy Swallows Universe is a lot darker than anyone might think.
At one point in the series, Lyle does end up disappearing mysteriously, to which Eli finds him eventually through his investigation.
Considering that Lyle's former boss at the prosthetics factory, Tytus Broz (Anthony LaPaglia) was involved in the awarding ceremony, Eli knew he was up to no good.
Sure enough, he was right. Eli stumbled upon Tytus' research facility where he had been keeping dead bodies and body parts in an illegal farm, finding Lyle's severed head.

Boy Swallows Universe Depicts a Darker Path For Lyle
The series, Boy Swallows Universe, was never intended for children.
Lyle's ending further proves it as Eli took his stepfather's head back to the awarding ceremony to not only confirm where he disappeared off to but to also expose the crimes that Tytus had been doing behind their backs.
Despite seeking his best to provide for his supposed family, Lyle's dealings ended up stabbing him in the back.
It is likely that while his body parts had been used to pay off Tytus' business, his head served as somewhat of a trophy in his office.
