Netflix has a new true crime documentary and it's something that will intrigue you.
The show, entitled Killer Sally, is a true story about Sally McNeil, a former Marine and professional bodybuilder, who fatally shot her husband on February 14, 1995. After shooting her husband, McNeil phoned 911 and claimed self-defense.
The three-part mini-series sees the incident from Sally's side. She even gets to sit in front of the camera and talk to director, Nanette Burstein, about her whole experience.

Who Is Sally McNeil?
As mentioned, Sally McNeil is a former Marine and professional bodybuilder. Her husband, Ray McNeil, was also a bodybuilder. On February 14, 1995, Sally shot and killed her husband He was brought to the hospital but died while in transit.
Sally and her children have repeatedly claimed that she was the victim of physical abuse. Sally also claimed that Ray has verbally abused and physically assaulted her. After their arguments, Ray would force his wife to have sex even when she had already said no.
What Was Sally McNeil Convicted Of?
In 1996, the court found Sally guilty of second-degree murder. She was sent to prison for 19 years. Even though the conviction has been overturned, it was reinstated in 2004.
After her time serving in the Marines, Sally started making wrestling tapes and went after bodybuilding opportunities.
During her trial, Sally's defense argued self-defense for the murder. They also shared that Sally was suffering from "battered-woman syndrome."
Unfortunately, the prosecution argued that the murder was premeditated. This was because Sally shot Ray twice-- in the head and the abdomen.
She served her sentence at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla, California.

Sally was born in 1960. When she shot Ray, Sally was only 35 years old. Today, she is a 62-year-old woman.
Where Is Sally McNeil Nowadays?
Sally has been out on parole after serving her time in prison. She has since remarried and now lies in Northern California.
