Ryuu Jusetsu is the Raven Consort in Raven of the Inner Palace.

As the Raven Consort, Jusetsu lives deep in the inner palace where she enjoys special treatment compared to the emperor's other consorts.

Due to her ability to use mysterious arts, she has the rank of the empress as a special exception.

She is also the descendant of the priestess who served the goddess Wulian Niang Niang.

Jusetsu's identity is unknown to many of the palace's servants, officials, and even the emperor because she rarely leaves the palace.

It's not that she can't go out; Jusetsu simply wants to stay in her quarters and carry out her responsibilities.

As a result, many people have misconceptions about Jusetsu. Some believe she is an elderly woman, while others believe she is a witch skilled in the art of magic.

What is certain is that Jusetsu's duty as a Raven Consort is to aid the emperor in some of his difficulties, whether personal or political.

While the emperor cannot order her to do things his way, Jusetsu uses her abilities to assist him in the palace nonetheless.

In Raven of the Inner Palace, Jusetsu is a human. Unbeknownst to many, Jusetsu was born without any special abilities.

In reality, Jusetsu is the daughter of a Ran Clan prostitute. However, because she is the daughter of a low-born female servant, the Ran Clan drove her mother away, forcing her to work as a prostitute in the red-light district.

Jusetsu's mother was later pursued by palace soldiers because of the color of her hair.

Not only did the palace soldiers kill her mother, but they also displayed her decapitated head for all to see, including Jusetsu.

Jusetsu was only spared because her mother dyed her hair before she died.

As a result, Jusetsu suffered from shock and was later sold as a slave to the You Clan.

She was also branded with an Osmanthus flower, which she still has to this day.

When the golden arrow lands on the roof of the You Clan's house, Jusetsu becomes the palace's next Raven Consort.

In the palace, Jusetsu was cared for by her predecessor, Reijou, who taught her a lot of things.

In fact, she becomes more human than before, from learning to use magical arts to reading, writing, and speaking eloquently.

After Reijou's death, Jusetsu became the Raven Consort, staying only in her quarters and waiting for the emperor to seek her assistance.
