Doga Kobo is an anime studio that has worked on various popular titles over the years.

Some of the studio’s well-known works include Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie, My Senpai is Annoying, and How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?.

The studio’s most popular work right now is Oshi no Ko, the hit anime series that’s getting a second season in summer 2024. Before that airs though, Doga Kobo is busy with its new original anime Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night.

This series follows four girls—an artist, a former idol, a VTuber, and a composer as they form an anonymous artist group called JELEE.

So far, only three of the four characters have met up, though we’ll likely see the fourth member join in the following episode.

Is Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night a Yuri Anime? Predictions Explored

Unlike most yuri shows though, it wasn’t explicitly mentioned yet if this new Doga Kobo anime is a yuri series, though some fans think it is one.

This is based on the chemistry between the main characters Mahiru Kozuki and Kano Yamanouchi. Some fans think that a potential romance will blossom between the two.

So far though, it can’t be said for certain if Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night is a yuri anime. Other viewers think that it won’t be as the relationship between the girls may just be platonic.

Fans will need to wait for more episodes to be released to find out if there will be more overt yuri elements.

Given that it’s not being advertised as a yuri series though, chances are that even if there are yuri elements, it will still be left up to fans’ interpretations.
