The reason given for the 2023 hiatus of Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable was to prepare for the manga's ending.
To this day, the manga counts 12 volumes, plus a few chapters that have yet to be collected in volume form.
The romance series follows Tsubasa Shiki, a high school student who moves from Tokyo to Kitami, a town in Hokkaido.
Lost in the snow, he meets Minami Fuyuki, a future classmate of his who dresses in the style of the gyaru subculture.
Minami helps Tsubasa get home, and the two make plans to spend more time together. Tsubasa is drawn to her as she's unlike any other girl he has met.
Given the manga and anime's low-stakes, slice-of-life nature, the story could end whenever the author wants it to, though romance titles tend to be a bit shorter than some massive shounen titles.
Is the Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable Manga on Hiatus?
As of writing, Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable isn't on hiatus. However, the manga did go on a break a few months ago to prepare for its ending – a fact that strengthens the prediction that it'll conclude soon.
More specifically, the manga paused its weekly schedule in August 2023 and remained on hiatus until September 13 when it returned with its 101st chapter.
