There was a lot of hype when the Dune 2021 movie adaptation was announced, and the outcome did not disappoint. But while we've known for quite some time that Frank Herbert's science fiction book would be adapted in two parts, it's been a while and fans want more. So, is Dune Part 2 confirmed?
Dune Part 2: What We Know So Far
Dune Part 2 is expected to pick up from where its predecessor left off, after Tom and his mother Jessica, who is now pregnant, have joined the Fremen.
Paul will learn more about his powers, grow stronger, and hopefully face the Harkonens. We also expect Paul to form a deeper relationship with Chani, as he has thus far only dreamed about her and she doesn't seem keen to know him in real life.

Dune (2021) isn't completely free of controversies, due to its subject matter and Paul's status as a white chosen one who acts as a savior for the people of Arrakis.
Director Denis Villeneuve pointed out that in his opinion Dune is a criticism of the white savior trope rather than an endorsement, given that things don't go as planned for Paul.
We'll have to wait for the second movie to find out the deeper themes that spring out of the story of Dune.
In any case, the 2021 movie remains a remarkable achievement; for years, the book series by Frank Herbert was considered unadaptable due to its style and many complexities.
While there are some big Dune moments the movie left out, this was still an immersive, well-done adaptation and fans are keen to see more.

Is Dune 2 Part 2 Confirmed?
Yes, Dune Part 2 is confirmed, due to be released on the 20th of October 2023. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for a little while yet, but hopefully, the anticipation will be worthwhile.
Already, the second Dune movie has announced cast members, including Christopher Walken who will play the Emperor in Dune 2, and Florence Pugh as his daughter, Irulan.

With a 2-year gap between the two installments, it's easy to wonder if the project is moving forward, but for now, there's nothing to indicate the opposite.
