It has been 35 years since Die Hard released in theaters and it has cemented its title as one of the most debated films of all time on whether it is really a Christmas movie or not, and every year, the same question goes on and on like a never-ending issue.

Some are convinced that Die Hard is a Christmas movie given the time setting of the film set on Christmas eve, thus, songs in the movie includes Let It Snow, Winter Wonderland, Ode to Joy, and Christmas in Hollis. Of course, with a setting on a holiday season, there are Christmas decorations all over the place.

The argument of Die Hard being a Christmas movie was strengthened in 2017 when the screenwriter of the movie, Steven E. De Souza answered a tweet from Jake Tapper regarding the issue with a hashtag #DieHardIsAChristmasMovie.

While that could easily be a confirmation, here comes the other side of the coin. The following year, in 2018, Bruce Willis, the lead actor in Die Hard, attended a Comedy Central event and there, he made the crowd go wild as he declared, with conviction, "Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie."

To start, Die Hard is not a Christmas movie it's too violent to be considered as one, and given that it's the season to be jolly, nothing is jolly with the violence that Die Hard brings.

Even when the movie was set on Christmas eve, "Christmas" was not mentioned at all and the holiday season didn't really play a part on the plot, plus it was released in July, when Christmas movies come out from November to December.

If you'd have a take on whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie, would you side on de Souza or Willis? The debate starts once more as the holiday season is here.

Die Hard is available to stream online on Hulu, Disney Plus, and Peacock, or it could be rented or purchased through Amazon, iTunes, Vudu, and Google Play.
