Kodansha and Hajime Isayama have confirmed that the highly popular manga series, Attack on Titan, will conclude in one of the upcoming Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. Attack on Titan or Shingeki no Kyojin will end in 2021.
Before 2020 ended, the creator of the widely popular series, Isayama revealed that the Attack on Titan manga is only one to two percent away from being finished. In January 2021, manga publisher Kodansha officially revealed that there is an official end date for the popular series.
As the anime adaptation moves forward with its final season, the manga will end in the upcoming May issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. The release will be on April 9, 2021, which marks the series' 11 years of serialization. The 34th and final volume of the Attack on Titan manga will be released on June 9 in Japan.
Kodansha also teased that there are multiple projects in development, to accompany the shounen manga's end. Isayama said that eight years ago, he felt that the manga will be over in three years which was obviously prolonged.
The creator stated that he can finally finish the manga in 2021. He added that it has been a long-time. He hopes that fans will keep up with him until the end. Isayama also revealed the theory that it may have been stretched by the editorial department. He debunked this theory, stating that the editorial department did not stretch the series. He said that it was his ‘later years' when he was urged to say when will the manga end. Finally, he says that it's coming to a close.
Attack on Titan was illustrated and written by Isamayama. The first issue for the manga was on Kodansha's monthly publication Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. It was released on September 9, 2009.
In 2021, the manga's publication is 11 years old. The last chapter will be chapter 139. On November 8, 2020, it was revealed that the manga will get a full-color serialization. Kodansha collected the chapters into individual tankobon volumes.
The tankobon is a reference to the independent volumes of a single manga series. Most series appear as individual chapters in a weekly or manga magazine which would be the Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in AoT's case. Other works are collected into tankobon which contains several chapters each.
The first volume was released on March 17, 2010. Meanwhile, the 34th and final volume of Attack on Titan manga will be released on June 9, 2021. In North America, Kodansha USA handles the English publication of the manga. The first volume in English was published on June 19, 2012.
