Christmas With You Spoiler Up Ahead

Garcia pays Angelina, an internationally-renowned Latina pop star who is struggling to find inspiration and stay relevant amidst a very competitive music industry. With more younger singers joining the mix, Angelina finds herself in a rut, learning she has to write a hit Christmas song or her record label will drop her.

Enter Cristina (played by Deja Monique Cruz), Angelina’s young fan who posts a short cover of one of Angelina’s songs that hold a special place in her heart. Cristina’s father, Miguel, is a widower and a music teacher in the local high school. He is a closet composer, writing music on his spare time but never sharing it with the world.

After a disappointing day, Angelina decides to make Cristina’s come true by visiting her in her high school. One thing led to another, and Angelina and her manager, Monique (played by Zenzi Williams) found themselves in Miguel and Cristina’s home, where they spent a couple of nights because of a snowstorm.

Angelina finds Miguel’s songs which spark a musical collaboration, and a love connection, that changes their destinies forever.

Though we find it hard to believe, Garcia is actually not a trained singer. In an interview with Pop Sugar, she mentioned how she got the part:

Netflix had offered me this role in 'Christmas With You' because of the musical episode on 'Lucifer,' but I barely sang and danced [for that]. And [I] may or may not have taken a shot of tequila in the sound booth. I cannot confirm nor deny.
I only had three days to learn all the songs . . . so when they said, 'You're going to play a professional singer with multiple Grammys and platinum records worldwide,' I had a minor panic attack.

Garcia even shares how terrified she was of the expectation

'What kind of voice are you guys thinking?' And they're like, 'Oh, you know, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson.' 'Oh, so the best singers of our generation?' I said, 'Not gonna happen in three days.
