Marvel's Ironheart Adds GLOW Star Shakira Barrera

Production for the MCU series Ironheart is currently underway. While the plot details have been kept under wraps, several set photos from the filming of the series have emerged including our first glimpse at Anthony Ramos as The Hood. Now, it looks like the series has added yet again another cast member to its ensemble as they're in the midst of filming.

Deadline has reported that GLOW star Shakira Barrera has joined the cast of Ironheart in a series regular role. The details regarding the character that she is playing are being kept under wrap for now.

However, after the casting was announced, notable online scooper GreatPhase revealed on Twitter that Barrera is playing Parker Robbins/The Hood's wife/girlfriend (although we have to take it with a grain of salt until Marvel makes it official).

Besides Ramos, the cast already includes Dominique Thorne, Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross, Harper Anthony, Manny Montana, Shea Coulee, Zoe Terakes, and Regan Aliyah.

Chinaka Hodge serves as the head writer. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes are directing. Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Zoie Nagelhout, Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian will serve as executive producers alongside Hodge.

Barrera is known for playing Yolanda "Junkchain" Rivas in the hit Netflix series GLOW where she appeared for two seasons. She also appeared in an episode of the seventh season of Agents of SHIELD where she played Agent King. She also guest-starred in shows such as Shameless, Animal Kingdom, and All Rise.

It is interesting to hear Barrera's involvement in the series and it looks like she's going to have some sort of major involvement in The Hood's arc if she does end up playing his love interest. It would be curious to see how she'll play into the overall story of the series.
