Say what you will about Iron Man 3's lame "Mandarin" reveal, but the film is not as bad as some fans claim it to be. Sure, by no means is it mind-blowing but the plot is actually pretty compelling when you think about it. Guy Pearce's role as Aldrich Killian was also great and I've always believed that the character had tons of potential had he was given more time to shine in the MCU.
Of course, we all know what happened to the character who was killed by Pepper Potts during the final moments of Iron Man 3 but the question is, did he really die? Now, if Pearce had things his way, he'd love to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Aldrich Killian, and according to him, should Marvel Studios give him the call, he'd come back in a heartbeat.
During an interview with ScreenRant, Pearce recalled his amazing experience working on the project, even praising his co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as director Shane Black. "I would certainly consider reprising it if they were interested in doing so. It was fantastic. It was great. I love playing that character. I loved working with Robert, of course, and Shane, our director, and Gwyneth who is adorable. I had a really, really great time. Who knows how we could do that?"
Considering the Extremis experiment grants its recipient the ability to heal and regenerate, I'm actually pretty convinced that Killian is still alive somewhere. And considering Marvel Studios is working on an Armor Wars series starring Don Cheadle, that would be the perfect project for Guy to make his MCU comeback. He'd definitely make a formidable foe for Rhodey aka War Machine.
Armor Wars is slated for release in 2022.
