Into The Spider-Verse 2 Teases Spider-Man 2099's Return

It looks like the wait for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is getting shorter and the sequel just dropped an awesome tease on what fans can look forward to next year. Amazingly, it might be time to see more of Spider-Man 2099.

The official Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Twitter account has just shared two images along with a hopeful caption. Check it out below.

"One year closer to 2022," the caption reads.

There's not much to go on here but fans were quick to point out that it was a tease on Spider-Man 2099 playing a larger role in the sequel. After all, the first movie concluded with Miguel O'Hara going to 1967 New York City where he finds and argues with that universe's Spider-Man.

Miguel is just one of the several Spider-Men who are expected to appear in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 but he's the one who has the potential to play a large role in the sequel. The character, who is voiced by Oscar Isaac, is able to safely travel through the multiverse so it is likely that he will be the one to bring together all of the Spider-Men in the film.

The premise of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is still a mystery. However, fans are already looking forward to seeing Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) reuniting with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson). In addition to that, we're hoping that Spider-Ham, Peni Parker, and Spider-Man Noir will be back as well.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is scheduled for release on October 7, 2022.
