Interview with The Vampire Series Has Found its Lestat

AMC's series adaptation of Interview With The Vampire has finally cast a crucial role. The upcoming show based on Anne Rice's novel has just cast Australian actor Sam Reid as the new Lestat de Lioncourt.

Variety confirms that Reid will portray Rice's beloved vampire turned rock star in the new AMC series. He is the first star confirmed to appear in Interview with The Vampire, which is set to focus on Lestat's companion Louis de Pointe du Lac and his conversations with the reporter Daniel Malloy.

Reid might not be a major star right now but he has an impressive acting resumé that proves he was cast for more than just his looks. The 34-year-old actor is best known for his work on the period drama Belle with Gugu Mbatha-Raw and the Australian web series Bloom.

Lestat was first played by Tom Cruise in the 1994 film. Stuart Townsend would later take over the role in 2002's Queen of the Damned which starred the late Aaliyah as the titular vampire.

Although Lestat is the first character to be cast in the series adaptation, it is possible that the vampire will not have a major role in the show. After all, Interview with The Vampire is not a direct adaptation of the book itself but a sequel showing Louis' second interview with Daniel. This was confirmed when the casting call for Daniel is looking for a man in his 60s.

The casting call for Louis has also revealed that the show aims to hire a Black man to play the Creole vampire. This is an interesting move considering that Louis is described as being white in the books.

Interview With The Vampire is currently in development and has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
