Insane Star Wars Rumor Claims Disney Plans to Erase Sequel Trilogy from Canon

Lucasfilm may be ready to move away from the Skywalker saga now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's completed its theatrical release, however, it seems like there's a wild rumor making the rounds online saying that Disney plans to erase the entire Star Wars sequel trilogy.

According to a report by YouTube personality Doomcock, Disney is planning to take Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker out of Star Wars canon in hopes that it can reset the franchise.

In the video, the YouTuber claims that there is a "civil war" going on between Star Wars creator George Lucas and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Now, Lucasfilm is allegedly planning to take the sequel trilogy outside of Star Wars canon "isolated in their own alternate timeline and regarded as an Elseworlds-like installment under the label of Star Wars Legends."

While we've seen reports like this come and go ever for months on end since the tepid release of The Rise of Skywalker, Doomcock has previously reported on failed test screenings for Episode IX. Fans disappointed with the turn out of the Star Wars sequel trilogy have been eating up the YouTuber's scoop – the rumor has spread like wildfire online.

Of course, as eager as these Star Wars fans might be to see the sequel trilogy booted out of canon, we find it hard to believe that Lucasfilm would undo decades of work just to please a segment of the fanbase.

Despite its divisiveness, the sequel trilogy still has its fans, and many believe that the films will be thought of fondly in years to come – the same way the prequels are now.

The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
