Inhumans Star Talks About Relationships of The Royal Family

Marvel's The Inhumans will premiere its first two episodes in IMAX theaters this September before we it in our television (or computer) screens. We'll soon see the conflicts between the members of the Inhuman Royal Family.

The Inhumans will be centered on King Black Bolt, Queen Medusa, and Maximus, among other Marvel characters. Although Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced the extraordinary species, the Royal Family is set to get their own series on ABC.

The rivalry between the silent king Maximus and his brother Maximus will drive the story of the new series. Anson Mount, who plays the Inhumans leader, talked to ScreenRant about his character's relationship with Maximus.

"That's one of the more enjoyable relationships in the show because of the antagonism of two people who on some level, love each other," Mount explained. "Scott Buck's a smart writer. He's starting it in a place where you'll have places to go. That's all I say about that."

Rheon, who plays Maximus, also talked about his character's relationship with Black Bolt:

"Yeah. Black Bolt is the older brother of Maximus, so he was always the first in line to be king, which is something I think Maximus always kind of fancied and feels that he would be a better king because, first of all, he can speak without destroying the whole world around him. And, yeah, I think he is maybe more of a dynamic leader he feels. So, yeah, but he's loyal to him with one eye always on the crown."

Black Bolt is separated from his wife Medusa after he escapes the Inhuman kingdom of Attilan because of Maximus' coup. This causes a bigger problem for Black Bolt, whose power includes a destructive voice that can damage surroundings with a slight whisper so he needs Medusa to communicate for him.

"Their relationship is going be a real attaching point for the audience because of how deeply in love these two characters are in love with each other," Mount said. "They really do need each other to survive, to do what they do, to be what they are. She is his voice."

Synopsis:

After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.

Inhumans stars Iwan Rheo as Maximus, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Ken Leung as Karnak, Ellen Woglom as an undisclosed character, Sonya Balmores as Auran, and Mike Moh as Triton.
