Inhumans: Black Bolt Will 'Never' Have Dialogue

If you've encountered Black Bolt in the comics, you'll know that the king of the Inhumans has to stay quiet because a single word from his mouth can level a mountain. As it turns out, the showrunners of the Inhuman series plan to stay true to the character, and Black Bolt will not be given a single word of dialogue in the show.

During the Inhumans TCA Panel (via /Film), Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb says:

"When we first sat down and started talking about the role, we said, very point blank, ‘You have no dialogue, and you will never have dialogue… It's not as though there's a point where there's going to be a secret operation. You're going to have to find a way to communicate with your hands and your eyes and another way."

This would prove a huge challenge for Anson Mount who is playing the lead role of Black Bolt. He will have to serve as a main protagonist while giving a performance that is purely body language.

Of course, like Chekov's Gun, you can't just have Black Bolt having immense power in the show without him using it eventually. At some point, we should expect Black Bolt to go all out, but for now it makes sense that his character will remain mute in the series.

So far there's been a lot of negative reception for the show, with a lot of fans citing the poor quality of the visual effects in the trailers. It's best we just wait and see if Inhumans is really worth our time.

Inhumans comes out on IMAX Sept. 1, with the series premiering on ABC on Sept. 29.
