Earlier this week, the script for Colin Trevorrow's version of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker leaked online, giving fans an idea of what the movie would have been had the Jurassic World director stayed on the project.
While most doubted the validity of the leaked material, various entertainment news sites have confirmed the accuracy of the script of Trevorrow's version of Episode IX, a movie the filmmaker would have called the Duel of the Fates.
Industry sites like Collider, The Playlist, and The AV Club have all independently confirmed the validity of the recently leaked Star Wars script for Episode IX, confirming that the details written in the leak are very similar to what Trevorrow had prepared for his version of the Star Wars movie.
Trevorrow's version of Episode IX titled Duel of the Fates would have differed from J.J. Abrams' The Rise of Skywalker in quite a number of areas.
Palpatine would not have that much of a role in the movie, appearing only as a hologram cameo. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) would continue as the main villain of the sequel trilogy. Rey (Daisy Ridley) would continue to be the daughter of two nobodies, staying true to the origin that was given to her in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) would be given an arc where she would lead a heist on a Star Destroyer. The Force Ghosts of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), and Yoda would help Rey in her final battle with Kylo Ren.
The Supreme Leader of the First Order would die without any kind of redemption.
It's very different from what Abrams had for The Rise of Skywalker, and some believe that it's so much better than what actually came out in Episode IX.
