The first time we met model Rushali Rai on Indian Matchmaking was in the show's first season. The Miss India finalist was matched by Sima Taparia (aka Sima Aunty) to jeweler Pradhyuman Maloo.
Despite having high standards, Sima Aunty tried to find the right match for Pradhyuman throughout the show. And we saw him going on a date with the model as they went horseback riding into the sunset.
But unfortunately, the two did not end up together. And now that Indian Matchmaking is back on Netflix for its third season, we get a deeper look at who Rushali Rai is.
Here's what we know about the former Miss India finalist.
Who Is Rushali Rai?
Rushali Rai is a 28-year-old Hindu Punjabi who works as a model and actress. She was crowned Miss Delhi in 2014 and became a Miss India finalist a year later.
She also won the second spot for India's Next Top Model. Rushali also used to be a competitive equestrian while still studying English Literature.
Despite her job, Rushali isn't fond of taking selfies. The beauty queen previously told Pradhyuman that she prefers reading a book whenever she's free "instead of being on the phone."
When the pandemic happened, Rushali created an IGTV series where she shared her Yoga knowledge with her followers. She is also a trained Salsa and Western dancer.
Indian Matchmaking Season 1: What Happened to Rushali and Pradhyuman?
In the first season of Indian Matchmaking, Sima Aunty introduced the model to Pradhyuman as a good-looking and smart woman. She also told him that Rushali was a friend's daughter from Delhi.
Although Pradhyuman was thrilled about his match, it took him a relationship coach and his sister to convince him to trust Sima Aunty's judgment. The two decided to meet at an Amateur Riders' Club.
When the show ended in 2020, it felt like Sima Aunty did a good job of matching Pradhyuman with Rushali. But when Pradhyuman returned to Indian Matchmaking Season 2, he already had a girlfriend he later married.
In a statement, Pradhyuman talked about their split and said, "We had different paths in life, and we respected that and moved ahead." Despite this, the two remained friends.
Pradhyuman is now married to Ashima Chauhan.
Indian Matchmaking Season 3: Why Is Rushali Back on the Show?
In the days leading to the show's release on Netflix, Rushali turned to social media to tease her return. And now that Indian Matchmaking Season 3 has been released, viewers will see more of the beauty queen.
Rushali took the time to explain why her relationship with Pradhyuman did not work out: "He seemed to be a really good guy, but I think the spark wasn't there."
Sima Aunty paired her with a new guy on the show, a filmmaker from Noida called Tushar Tyagi. Again, their first date went pretty well. But when the topic of their families came up, things turned sour.
Tushar confessed that he prefers a space between himself and his future wife's family. The confessed momma's girl decided not to pursue a relationship with Tushar.
And for now, Rushali remains single and busy working on herself. Hopefully, Sima Aunty can find her a future partner who will accept her bond with her family.
