In the Land of Leadale is among the many Winter anime titles that wrapped up recently. Overall, the ending of the 2022 isekai anime concluded neatly in a wholesome way, but, if you still have questions, this article's for you. Here's the ending of In the Land of Leadale explained:

In the Land of Leadale concluded pretty straightforwardly, avoiding cliffhangers, but will Cayna's life always be this calm and peaceful?

The ending seems to imply so since she has now settled happily in the village with her new adoptive daughter and is grateful for all her experiences in Leadale.

Frankly, there's nothing wrong with an anime wrapping up in a humorous, fun, or escapist way, but some viewers felt that more work should have been put into the emotional build-up to ensure that fans actually feel the characters' joy.

The fact that Canya's reincarnation into Leadale wasn't thoroughly explained makes sense, due to isekai conventions. One of Leadale's most interesting aspects, however, is that Cayna wasn't alone in her transformation. Other players also became stranded in the abandoned server, some walking down darker paths than our main character.

So, what becomes of these players, and why did they end up in Leadale? Ableist as it may be, Cayna's isekai experience in Leadale is hardly surprising, given the frequency with which the genre transports characters into magical worlds after their deaths. But this becomes more than a teenager's escapist fantasy, as the anime itself chooses not to forget or downplay her transition from the real world into Leadale by featuring other lost players.

If Cayna was the only one, isekai fans might be able to forget the inexplicable elements and simply be immersed in the whimsical story, but the existence of other players will, inevitably, cause some viewers to question the mechanics of the situation, bringing interesting, if unanswerable questions into isekai cliches. Unfortunately, the ending of the anime didn't explore this aspect at all, instead focusing on humor and fun.

At the time of writing, we still don't know whether there's any explanation for the players' entrapment (a metaphor for addiction, perhaps?) but some viewers believe the anime could have benefited by exploring this further. Unless In the Land of Leadale Season 2 is announced at some point, we have to come up with our own interpretations. It could happen, but likely not until the Leadale light novel and manga are well ahead.
