Starship Entertainment has released an update on the contract renewal involving the members of MONSTA X.

An official press release revealed that five members of MONSTA X, namely Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, and Joohoney, had renewed their contracts with the agency.

The youngest member I.M had the longest discussion among the members and therefore concluded that he would not renew his contract with Starship Entertainment.

But since all six members have the same affection for MONSTA X and their fans, MONBEBE, I.M will continue his group activities in the future.

Starship Entertainment Releases Official Statement Regarding MONSTA X Contracts

After a long discussion based on the mutual faith and trust that MONSTA X and Starship Entertainment members have built up, the agency will continue to make every effort to make the members’ activities shine even more in the future.

Although I.M is leaving Starship Entertainment, he will remain a member of MONSTA X. Here is the full statement of Starship Entertainment about the contract renewals of the members.

Hello. This is Starship Entertainment.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to MONBEBE worldwide for continuously supporting and loving MONSTA X.
Starship Entertainment has recently renewed its contracts with five members of MONSTA X, Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, and Joohoney. All six members have the same affection for MONSTA X and MONBEBE, so I.M has agreed to continue his activities with the group in the future.
Based on the mutual faith and trust we have built up after working for years, we will make every effort to make the members shine even more with new activities here and there. We promise to provide full and systematic support to the remaining members signed under the agency.
We had an honest discussion with I.M, but unfortunately, we have come to an agreement to conclude the exclusive contract. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the hard work and dedication that I.M has shown. We will support I.M’s new journey and activities.
Meanwhile, MONSTA X has recently finished its month-long break. Our company and the members make various arrangements to meet fans through group and individual activities.
We ask for your continued support, warm encouragement, and love for the six members of MONSTA X.

I.M Expresses His Feelings About Leaving Starship Entertainment Through A Handwritten Letter

On the same night, I.M posted a handwritten letter on MONSTA X’s official fan cafe addressing the announcement of his exclusive contract with Starship Entertainment.

Hello. This is I.M of MONSTA X.
It has already been seven years since I started as an artist with Starship Entertainment.
I have heard a lot as much as we’ve been together for a long time, but now I think I need to take on a new challenge that will mean something more, so I made this decision after much consideration.
I want to thank Starship Family, who have laughed and cried with me for many days.
MONBEBE, who made every day the happiest and brightest moments together. I think being with MONSTA X is a precious thing, and MONSTA X will be with MONBEBE as always.
