IDW's Star Wars Adventures Tells a Chewbacca Story Set Between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker

With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker upon us, fans can't wait to see how the current trilogy, along with the journey they'll experience. As we wait for more information about the movie, IDW has decided to grace us with an arc of Star Wars Adventures that fills in the gap between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. If that wasn't exciting enough, the arc will be starring our good friend Chewbacca and maybe a Porg or two.

Starting with Star Wars Adventures #27, The First Order will be launching an attack on Chewie's people, who reside in Kashyyyk. Obviously, Chewie isn't just going to stand by and let this happen so off he goes to defend his people, along with a cute Porg that stays on his shoulder. It's not yet clear if that Porg will survive or make it to The Rise of Skywalker but let's wait and see.

John Barber, who will be writing the arc, had this to say about Chewie's new adventure:

It's a thrill and an honor to get to tell this story with the amazing Derek Charm. Chewie's one of my favorite characters ever, for as long as I can remember. Having the opportunity to tell his story to a new generation of Star Wars fans – and all this leading up to the conclusion to the Skywalker saga — is one of the biggest thrills of my career.

Artist Derek Charm also commented on the matter, showing how excited he is about the arc:

I've been lucky enough to work within a lot of Star Wars eras in this series, but doing something in the current, post-Last Jedi landscape is really exciting. The fact that it focuses on Chewbacca and what he's been up to between these movies is more so.

Star Wars Adventures #27 comes out this October.
