Ever since James Gunn's The Suicide Squad made the shocking revelation that Superman was once beaten by Bloodsport in a fight that even saw the Man of Steel being put in the ICU, fans of the DC Extended Universe have been dying to see how Robert DuBois, played by Idris Elba nearly ended Clark Kent's life.

Elba has gone on record on multiple occasions, saying that even he wants to see how the encounter between Bloodsport and Superman actually went down. Despite all of the uncertainties surrounding the Man of Steel's DCEU status, the Thor: Love and Thunder star is still determined to make it happen.

Speaking with Variety, Idris expressed his interest anew in a big-screen showdown between his character and the Man of Steel. He said: "I would definitely like to tell the Superman story. There's no doubt. Bloodsport versus Superman. It needs to happen."

As it stands, we still don't know what the future holds for Superman, especially with several reports claiming that Henry Cavill is no longer interested in playing the part. Of course, Warner Bros. Discovery will always have the option to recast the actor but that would only create a massive issue if the studio plans to continue with what the franchise has already established instead of hitting the reset button.

Hopefully, David Zaslav's "10-year plan" for the DCEU is actually the answer to the franchise's long-standing problem.

Meanwhile, The Suicide Squad is available for streaming on HBO Max.
