Idris Elba Says He's Looking Forward To Filming With Spock At Star Trek Beyond

Star Trek Beyond promises to go where no Star Trek movie has gone before, to remote planets never seen with the human eye.

In an interview with Metro, Idris Elba revealed he was a huge Trekkie and is super excited to join the Star Trek family. He seems to be excited about one scene in particular. "I wouldn't say I was a hardcore Trekkie but I definitely watched that show a million times." He also told the British newspaper "Spock was probably my favorite character - and in this one I have some scenes with Zachary Quinto [who plays Spock]."

Elba was cast to bring excitement to the series. He will playing the film's main villain.

I cannot wait to see what Elba can bring to the Star Trek series. Not only is he a great actor, but the early script leaks have revealed that Klingons will be the main antagonists of the film. So far, Klingons haven't been in any of the films, despite being the fan favorite-race. If I was going to have anyone play a Klingon, I would want it to be a fellow Trekkie.

Star Trek: Beyond blasts into theaters everywhere July 8, 2016.
