I think we can all agree that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the best thing to happen to the brand and having one person in charge of overseeing the creative aspects of every live-action project meant more consistency and cohesiveness. To be fair, before the inception of the billion-dollar franchise, Marvel has already proven its box office appeal although not everything they've put out pre-MCU was gold.

Take for instance Ang Lee's 2003 take on the Incredible Hulk starring Eric Bana. While the film boasted impressive CGI at the time of its release, it left nothing to be desired outside the visual spectacle. In fact, it's one of the lowest-rated films on Rotten Tomatoes, with an astonishing audience rating of 29%.

The film wasn't a box office hit either, only earning $245 million at the worldwide box office. If you'd ask fans what they think of it nearly 20 years after it premiered, the reactions will mostly be negative but to actor Josh Lucas, who played Glenn Talbot in the film, it was one of his best experiences working on a theatrical project.

Speaking with The Playlist, Lucas had nothing but nice words to say about Lee, even describing him as a "genius" while doing the divisive flick. He said: "If people ask me who my favorite directors are, I almost invariably will tell you my number one is Ang [Lee]. I don’t use this word genius, but I think he’s truly up there as a, if not brilliant, genius filmmaker. Like you say, he was swinging for the rafters on ['Hulk']. I don’t think the technology was quite where his brain was."

Speaking of the Hulk, MCU veteran Mark Ruffalo is reportedly finally getting his own solo outing as the green giant which will draw massive inspiration from the World War Hulk comic.

Meanwhile, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is streaming on Disney+.
