Hugh Jackman Would Rather Have A New Wolverine Actor Join The MCU

Everyone's expecting Disney to finalize the 21st Century Fox acquisition this week, and Marvel fans are more than excited to see the X-Men and Fantastic Four return to Marvel. While it's unlikely that the studio will resurrect Hugh Jackman's Wolverine after his poignant death in Logan, the Australian actor says that he's excited to see a new actor take on his claws and join the Marvel Cinematic Universe if Disney buys out Fox.

Jackman recently spoke to Collider to help promote his upcoming film, The Greatest Showman, and during the interview with the publication, the X-Men actor opened up about his thoughts about the Fox and Disney sale after rumors started spreading that Jackman's Wolverine would appear in Avengers 4.

"It's interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head. But it was like, "Oh well, that's not gonna happen," and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what's gonna happen, obviously — I was like, "Hang on!" But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there."

Jackman certainly seems to have set his claws aside, moving on from the iconic role of Wolverine. It might take a while for us to see Logan on the big screen again, and the next time we do, someone else is going to play the mutant.

Avengers: Infinity War makes its big debut on May 4, 2018, while Avengers 4 hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
