Hugh Jackman Tells Deadpool Actor Ryan Reynolds To “Play A Little Hard To Get”

Even though Hugh Jackman's already said that he won't be returning as 20th Century Fox's Wolverine after the poignant death of James Howlett in Logan, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has been working pretty hard to get Hugh Jackman to team up with him.

During the past few years, Reynolds has been going on about how great it would be if Hugh Jackman would turn up in one of his raunchy R-rated comic book movies. The Merc with A Mouth even went as far as having a paper mask of the Australian actor's face on his own at the end of Deadpool.

But Jackman hasn't budged in the least. Noticing that the Canadian actor's been trying too hard to get the Wolverine/ Deadpool team up, Jackman tells Reynolds to "Play a little hard to get."

"I might just have a little message for Ryan," the Wolverine star said on Good Morning America. "I love you, man. I love Deadpool. I can't wait to see the movie. You're one of my best friends. Blake, the fam, the whole thing. But back it up a little. Play a little hard to get. It's too much; it's not sexy."

Jackman's message seems to come as a response to Reynolds latest plea for a Wolverine team-up. Last week the Deadpool 2 actor and producer spoke with Entertainment Weekly saying that Logan could still pop up in one of his films. According to Reynolds, Logan's still pretty much alive in his timeline with a "little bush chest and his little sharpy claws," all ready to go.

"I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there's no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend," the actor explained during the interview with the publication. "He's just the best. I already miss him as Logan, so I'm one of those guys that whenever I see him, I'm like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We'll do it together. It'll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,' and it's always just me saying it."

It really sounds like Reynolds is just way too in love with Jackman for his own good. The Australian actor was right – Reynolds needs to take it a bit easy and play hard to get.

Deadpool 2 hits cinemas May 18, 2018.
