Now that Marvel Studios has officially obtained the rights to the X-Men thanks to Disney's massive acquisition of Fox, it's only a matter of time before Kevin Feige and his crew start working on a mutant reboot and the idea already has fans really stoked. Of course, when you think about the mutants, the name Logan aka Wolverine instantly comes to mind, and while it can be argued that Hugh Jackman pretty much owned the role, it's time to look into the future of the X-Men franchise under the MCU banner.

The million-dollar question is, which Hollywood stud should be given the honor of playing the claw-slashing, cigar-smoking outlaw? In a 2017 interview with MTV unearthed by the good folks over at Men's Health, Jackman jokingly said that he doesn't want to make things easy for Marvel to replace him as Logan but when asked which actor he thinks should be his successor, he only had one person in mind and that's Tom Hardy.

Jackman said: "I've been asked the question a lot and I'm always like, 'I don't want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me.' I'm sure they're already talking about it, that some actor out there they've already said, 'Shhhh... keep it quiet but we want you next.' He's younger than me for sure, I think Tom Hardy would be great."

Despite the rousing endorsement from Jackman himself, the idea of Hardy playing Wolverine in Kevin Feige's Marvel world seems out of the question especially now that he's busy wreaking havoc as Venom. Sure, the general belief right now is that Sony's own Spidey universe is set outside the MCU but what do we know? With the multiverse already coming into play, there's a huge chance that Hardy's version of Eddie Brock could crossover to Tom Holland's Earth-616.

Marvel Studios has yet to announce plans about the X-Men reboot.
