James Gunn Confirms Groot Says ‘About 50 F-Bombs’ in Guardians Vol. 2

James Gunn has recently revealed that Baby Groot had been excessively swearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and that Rocket was originally supposed to have a line that called him out. Now in a new post, Gunn gives us a rough estimate on just how much of a potty-mouth the GotG mascot had in the second movie.

When asked about putting an F-bomb in the second film, Gunn goes on to talk about the rules of using the word in the context of a PG-13 film. In the end, he goes back to the number of times Groot swears in Guardians Vol. 2:

If anything, I don't expect that Gunn really counted the times Groot was supposed to swear, but who knows, maybe there's an alternate script out there where Groot's lines are actually translated? If we were just going to guess, I would say there's a sure F-bomb whenever Groot is angry at something; we should also count the times when people are angry at him for talking—like the post-credits scene with Teen Groot.

We don't know what state Groot will be in when it comes to the third movie, but I'm sure he'll still come off as the ‘baby' of the Guardians roster. Then again, that role probably belongs to Mantis now, but I expect Gunn to try and shake things up when it comes to his Vol. 3.

No release date has been announced for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but people are expecting the film to hit sometime in 2022.
