How to Train Your Dragon Author Marks The Hidden World as Her Favorite Film in the Franchise

Cressida Cowell had started the How to Train Your Dragon book series in 2003, and seven years later it spawned a beloved movie franchise from Dreamworks animation. HHTYD is expected to conclude Hiccup's story next year with The Hidden World, and apparently, that film is Cowell's favorite in the entire series.

Cowell has apparently seen the film already, and she just recently shared this on her Twitter:

Though the series may have started out as a fun adventure for kids, How to Train Your Dragon has admittedly grown up along with its audience. We are introduced to Hiccup as a young and insecure boy in the series, and by the time The Hidden World kicks in, he would be a full-fledged Viking chief.

We don't really have that much specifics on the story, but based on the ominous trailer, it seems that the dragons will disappear at some point from the world of the humans. Why else would Hiccup be narrating about a time when dragons once existed? Either way, I think we're going to be getting some kind of tearjerking reunion before the credits start to roll.

Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they've known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. As their true destinies are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together—to the very ends of the Earth—to protect everything they've grown to treasure.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World hits theaters Feb. 22, 2019.
