How to Fix iOS 15: Common Problems, Issues, Bugs, Glitches and More Explained

With the release of iOS 15, users have been reporting a number of different problems that have emerged off the back of it. We'll take a look at some of the most common issues, and give you an insight into what you might be able to do if any of them are affecting you.

Errors

iPhone Storage Full

Users are finding that no matter how much space they have on their devices, their iPhones are telling them that their storage is full. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, this is a general error with no obvious fix. We just need to sit and wait until Apple release another update. Keep checking, and make sure to update your device as soon as a new patch becomes available.

Backup/Restore Error Code

This may include errors codes such as 1671, 3194, and 4013. These errors usually appear when you are trying to restore an iPhone with iTunes on your computer. There are a few suggested fixes you can try. Start by making sure you keep iTunes fully updated. Make sure your phone isn't being blocked from communicating with the Apple servers - check your security software. Unlock your device and try again.

Other Problems

Apple Maps keeps crashing

Apple Maps received a bunch of new tools with the latest update. But some users have found that it crashes when they try to open it. For most, manually closing the app and then restarting it should resolve the problem. If it doesn't restart your device, and see if this helps.

The Look Around feature isn't working

Similar to Google Street View, the Look Around feature since the update presents images more like what you might see if you were drunk, offering blurry images, and struggling to render images correctly. Once again, there is no solution other than to wait for another update from Apple.

The camera keeps switching to Macro Mode

If this has been happening to you (most likely on an iPhone 13 or 13 Pro Max, Apple has confirmed that it is a known issue. Wait for that update to be rolled out, with a fix.

Third-party apps keep crashing or refusing to work

Sometimes it can take a little while for third-party app developers to update their apps in line with the latest iOS update. If this is happening to you, start by trying to close the app and restart it. Check to see if there are any pending updates for the app in question. If you get desperate, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. And if nothing works, contact the app developer for further support.

The battery is draining quickly after iOS 15

If you feel like your battery is draining much faster than it was before the update, you may not be imagining it. The first thing to do is check the battery health status, to see what condition your battery is in. You can try enabling Optimized Battery Charging, to see if this helps.

It's also worth checking to see if the update has reset any battery-saving settings you may have previously enabled. And if any apps seem to be particularly heavy on the battery, consider removing them.

Wrong notification sounds

Some users are reporting that after updating to iOS 15, they are no longer getting their customized notification sounds when they receive a message or email, for example. It seems to be spread to 3rd party messaging apps as well.

Restarting your device is always the first step to take. But if this doesn't work, look for an update to see if that remedies the problem.

Bluetooth devices no longer pair with iPhone

If you are struggling to connect your Bluetooth devices, try forgetting that specific device, and then reconnecting to it, as though it is a new one.

Frozen screen or black screen

This issue is much more prevalent in older iPhone models, such as the 6s. If this happens to you, regardless of the phone model, start by doing a force reset of your device. This varies by model, instructions can be found on Apple's website.

You can then try to delete any apps which seem to be particularly prone to freezing, or try doing restoring your iPhone from a backup via iCloud or iTunes.

These are some of the most common issues that we've seen mentioned since the release of iOS 15. Hopefully, further updates will resolve the majority, if not all, of these.
