Forza Horizon 5 has been widely praised by players and critics alike. But that doesn't mean it has been able to completely avoid errors and glitches that break the game. Or at the very least are annoying and irritating. We've put together a list of some of the most common problems players have been dealing with, as well as some solutions. Let's strap on our safety belts, and get going. Here's how to Fix Forza Horizon 5 issues.

Common Problems

Server Issues

Server issues are, unfortunately, to be expected when a new game with a major online component is released. The enormous volume of traffic can go a long way to explaining this. The likelihood is that in a relatively short period of time, this issue will remedy itself as player numbers start to stabilize. But in the meantime, you can check the server status of the game by following @forza_support on Twitter. If there are issues, wait until they have been resolved. But if the servers are running as normal, consider relaunching the game to refresh your connection. If you use a VPN, try turning it on (or off) to connect with a different server, to see if that fixes things for you.

Loyalty Rewards Not Unlocking

Players who had played previous Forza games have been eligible for up to seven free cars. However, some players have found that even though they have fulfilled the eligibility criteria, these rewards have not been unlocked. While Playground Games has acknowledged this issue, the recommended course of action is to submit a support ticket for further assistance.

Crashing on Xbox

Some players have reported crashes when playing Forza Horizon 5 on their Xbox One or Series X|S. An official workaround has yet to be made available. So try all the usual troubleshooting steps: restart your console. Install the game on your internal hard drive, and check for any game or system updates.

Crashing on PC

If you are on PC and experiencing crashes, then you do have a degree of additional flexibility in trying to resolve this problem. Because it can be hard to pin down exactly why this is happening, there are several steps worth trying. Restarting your PC, and checking for software updates, are both good steps to take. In addition, make sure your game isn't being blocked by any Firewall or Anti-Virus software. Make sure your computer actually meets the minimum system specifications of the game. If it doesn't, you are always liable to have problems with the game. And finally, if you've purchased the game via Steam, you can try to verify the integrity of the game files, in case something has been corrupted. To do this:

  • Restart your computer and launch Steam
  • Next, you can either right click the game in your Library, or click the gear icon from the game's Library page on the far right
  • From the drop-down menu, select Properties...
  • Select the Local Files tab and click the Verify integrity of game files... button
  • Steam will then do its thing. It can take several minutes, so don't expect it to be instantaneous.

Forzathon Shop Unavailable

If you're trying to access the Forzathon Shop to gain access to in-game rewards, stop. The reason this isn't working is that it hasn't been made available yet. As the Forza Support page states, "The Forzathon Shop is currently not open, please keep an eye on our social channels for when this is available".

No Audio on Xbox Series X|S When Using Quick Resume

If you have used Quick Resume to play Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox Series X|S, there is a known fault that causes audio to disappear. If this happens to you, force quit the game and relaunch it. This should resolve the problem.

Other Issues

There is an enormously long list of other known issues that have already been acknowledged by Forza Support. You can find that list here, in case you are experiencing an issue we haven't highlighted already. These are issues that are being identified and investigated, so hopefully, the list will start to get shorter soon. There are a couple of issues that have been described as "won't fix or by design". These are:

  • Festival Playlist - Daily challenges descriptions show imperial measurements (such as miles) despite the Player having selected Metric in their settings. Daily challenge unit measurements do not update when the player changes the Units in settings.
  • Super 7 - Series 1- A Barn Find car (Jaguar Sport XJR-15) is being given as a completion award for finishing the Super 7. This car cannot be removed from the player garage due to being a Barn Find car.

If either of these were the problem you wanted a fix for, don't hold your breath.
