The Gojira has commonly been depicted to be 500 feet tall at most, but this wasn’t always the case for the ever-expanding franchise.

The main Kaiju has already faced a couple of similar monsters such as fighting on an equal stance with Kong on the playing field where the King of Monsters had to increase his height size to come face-to-face at a seemingly fair match between them.

For a more concrete comparison amongst all versions of the gigantic monster, a 2019 Newsweek article provided samples of the studied height per Gojira era.

Now, to start off with the very first Godzilla in the 1950s, his height stood at 50 meters, which remained constant within the Shōwa period.

Since they were aimed at children and eventually progressed in becoming a hero for the kids and fighting his longtime nemesis King Ghidorah, keeping the main Kaiju at this rate was essential across 8 movies.

As for the Heisei period, in which the majority of the films centered around the seriousness of tone and inflicting fear on humans, the Godzillas have sized up around 80-100 meters tall.

Then there’s the Millennium period wherein the heroic Kaijus have gone beyond terrifying to be recognized as the friendly monster he was known to be in the Shōwa period. They had grown to become more nightmarish.

It is then that the Gojiras have grown even past 100 meters up to reaching nearly 120 meters tall, meaning that the tallest version of Gojira was the one in 2016’s Shin Godzilla (389 ft).

Not to mention, in two more films: Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong where the former stomped at its peak of 120 meters.

With that out of the way, can we actually expect the same thing about the newest Kaiju in the upcoming Godzilla Minus One?
