How Star Wars Rebels' Ending Affected The Clone Wars' Final Season

Depending on who you ask, Star Wars Rebels was either a good follow-up to Star Wars: The Clone Wars or was kiddie garbage that was hard to care about. However you feel, the show did have a number of fans and we could get a sequel to it fairly soon, given the lack of current Star Wars content. Considering how The Clone Wars is getting a definitive ending with Season 7, fans have wondered if Rebels affected it in any way.

The Clone Wars voice actor Dee Bradley Baker, who voices all of the clones in that show and Rebels, discussed how the ending of the latter impacted the making of the former. For Baker, the voice actor was actually relieved that Rex would survive the end of The Clone Wars since he already makes it to the end of Rebels, which is a bit of a spoiler, to be honest.

Still, Baker does sort of tease other clones dying and when you consider how many of them are actually interesting characters with personalities, it's going to be pretty sad. Here's what Baker told CinemaBlend:

That was kind of a new feeling, that framed my sessions for The Clone Wars, the final season. Because always before in the old days when we did The Clone Wars, there was never any promise that anybody was going to survive except for, you know, Obi-Wan and Anakin and such. But the clones, that was never a given, not even for Rex. So I never knew. Now coming into it, I know at the very least, 'Well, we're not going to finish The Clone Wars by killing off Rex.' That was at least of some comfort to me.

We're sure that Bradley is happy over the fact that Rex makes it, as are a lot of fans, though that does take some of the drama away from The Clone Wars. Even Ahsoka makes it out, living until the end of Rebels but we're sure there are other characters who have much more interesting fates.
