How do people survive in a world where monsters have taken away music from them?
In takt op. Destiny, the world has been destroyed by monsters from space called D2s. These monsters are attracted to the sound of music, which is why music was banned for the sake of the people's safety. Humanity found a way to fight back, and that's through specific people with special abilities — Conductors and Musicarts. These duos work together using classical music, fighting off the D2s in order to restore peace to the world.
takt op. Destiny follows Takt Asahina, a piano player. His childhood friends Anna Schneider and Cosette watch over him since he no longer has parents. After a tragedy happens in their town, Takt and Cosette awaken, and the former becomes a Conductor. Meanwhile, the latter becomes a Musicart called Destiny, born from Beethoven's "Symphony No. 5 in C minor Op. 67." Takt, Destiny, and Anna must now travel to New York so that they can do something about Destiny, who doesn't necessarily function as a regular Musicart.
The anime adaptation, takt op. Destiny, is a collaboration between animation studios MAPPA and Madhouse. The series is adapted from takt op., a mixed media project by Bandai Namco and DeNA. There is also a mobile game in the works, which was supposed to be scheduled for a 2021 release but was postponed. The first episode of the anime adaptation premiered last October 2021.
Yūki Itō is directing the series. The voice cast includes Shion Wakayama (SSSS.Dynazenon) as Destiny, Kōki Uchiyama (Horimiya) as Takt, and Kaede Hondo (Zombieland Saga) as Anna. takt op.
