Yaku, also known as Demon Senpai, is part of Nekoma High as a libero. He is an honest and hardworking individual with a solid work ethic.

Yaku exudes confidence in his abilities as a libero and diligently watches over his team, particularly the first-years Yuki Shibayama, Kenma Kozume, and Lev Haiba.

He deeply values his role as a libero, particularly cherishing the opportunity to represent Nekoma, a team renowned for its formidable defense.

Off the court, Yaku offers unwavering support to his teammates and often adopts a nurturing demeanor akin to Koshi Sugawara.

Yaku’s prowess as a libero is on par with Yu Nishinoya, who is considered one of the best in Haikyuu.

Yaku demonstrates exceptional receiving abilities, effortlessly digging Asahi’s powerful spikes despite never encountering them in the past.

This remarkable feat immediately garners Nishinoya’s respect during Karasuno High’s inaugural practice match against Nekoma.

Nishinoya has admired Yaku, noting that despite not drawing much attention on the court, his defensive skills are crucial.

Akane Yamamoto has also dubbed him the Commander-in-Chief and Guardian of Nekoma’s defense, emphasizing his importance that's equivalent to that of the ace.

Bokuto has echoed this sentiment, praising his receiving skills by stating that his receiving gives him goosebumps.

Since he is such a proficient libero, he is shown serving as a libero for Tigr Ekaterinburg in the Russian Volleyball Super League after the time skip.

He later represents Japan as one of the liberos on their National Team during the 2021 Olympics, returning to his home country for the prestigious event.

Meanwhile, the first part of the Haikyuu!! Final Movie, also known as Haikyuu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, is set to premiere in Japan on February 16, 2024.
