How Each Star Wars Prequel Villain Foreshadowed Darth Vader's Fate

Anakin Skywalker's fall to the Dark Side was something many Star Wars fans expected when they first saw The Phantom Menace since the previous trilogy already had him as Darth Vader. Before he became Vader though, he was a hero who actually challenged some of the prequel trilogy's bad guys, like Count Dooku and General Grievous.

One interesting fan theory has suggested that the prequel trilogy's villains, Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and General Grievous, all represent a part of Anakin's eventual Darth Vader persona.

While The Phantom Menace didn't do a good job of characterizing Maul, who was more of a silent antagonist, The Clone Wars and Rebels showed that he is a more calculating figure who is driven by revenge. Anakin is similar, as he slaughtered his mother's murderers like animals. It wasn't just the men he killed but the women and children, showing how revenge tore him up.

HE HATES THEM.

Dooku's is a little easier to see. He is a fallen Jedi who serves The Emperor and it's pretty sad to see him as a villain. After all, Dooku is the apprentice of Yoda and the master of Qui-Gon Jinn. In the end, however, he ended up just being a pawn to make Anakin stronger and was killed unceremoniously by Anakin in Revenge of the Sith.

Finally, we have Grievous. Here is a man who was so obsessed with getting power that he eventually became more machine than human. Similar to Darth Vader, who is burned so badly during a battle with Obi-Wan that he had to be given plenty of mechanical parts to simply breathe.

Thanks for that Reddit.
