How Did Deku Convince Shoto to Use His Full Power in My Hero Academia?

Shoto Todoroki is one of the most powerful characters in My Hero Academia. He is a student at Class 1-A at U.A High School and is on his way to become a Pro Hero. He is the son of Endeavor, who is currently the no. 1 hero after All Might retired. In the beginning, fans noticed that Shoto has two elements that he can use: ice and fire. His quirk is called Half-Cold, Half-Hot as he got his abilities from his parents.

But he refused to use his flame quirk as he hated his father. Shoto and Endeavor do not have a good relationship as Shoto knew that his father just married his mother so they can create a powerful child that can surpass All Might. With this in mind, Shoto decided never to use his flame quirk. But in the later seasons, fans can see Shoto finally using his flame quirk, and it happened to be Deku’s influence. How did Deku changed Shoto’s mind?

How Did Deku Convince Shoto to Use His Full Power in My Hero Academia?

Shoto’s perspective changed when he was put against Deku during the U.A Sports Festival. The two fought against each other during the first match of the second round. Deku started with a harsh comment that Shoto is not giving his best in the fight. Even if his ice quirk was powerful, it did not harm Deku much to the point that it would guarantee Shoto a win.

The reason Deku did this is that he noticed that while they were fighting, Shoto’s body started to have ice patches and his body started to tremble. Deku figured out that the only way to combat that is to use his flame quirk. The All of One user continued to trigger Shoto by saying that he would never achieve his dreams if he only uses half of his abilities. Deku continued attacking Shoto until the latter feels that his body is too cold and stiff to move.

Shoto responded that he would never use the quirk of his father but what was surprising was when Deku corrected him that it was his power not his dad’s. This line made Shoto realize that Deku was right and helped him convince to use his full power.
