Are the three dragon eggs shown in House of the Dragon season 2 the ones Daenerys hatched in Game of Thrones? Here's why that theory kind of makes sense.

Remember the Dragon Eggs Offered to Daenerys in Game of Thrones?

House of the Dragon season 2 episode 3 titled The Burning Mill reveals a potential backstory for Daenerys' dragon eggs from Game of Thrones.

Remember Dany's eggs? During her wedding to Khal Drogo in the season 1 premiere, she is gifted three dragon eggs in red, cream, and green. Once hatched, they became Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal, living proof that dragons still existed centuries after the events of House of the Dragon, and enshrined Daenerys as the Mother of Dragons.

Now, the latest episode of House of the Dragon season 2 just had Rhaena receive four dragon eggs, three of them in the same colors as Daenerys' gift, and fans are struck by the coincidence...if that's all it is.

One fan suggested, however, the three dragon eggs could also be the ones that Elissa Faraman stole during the reign of Jaeherys I, while another pointed out that Rhaena has far too many dragon eggs for these specific ones to just so happen to connect to Daenerys's story.

However, the allure of a GoT callback is too difficult to ignore, especially since the same three eggs were allegedly stolen by Farman when she and Rhaena ended their relationship.

The eggs were then taken across the Narrow Sea to the Sealord of Braavos before ending up as Daenerys' wedding gift.

Now, Are These the Same Eggs in House of the Dragon?

Keep in mind that the original author of both series, George R.R. Martin, has yet to confirm whether or not these are the same dragon eggs Daenerys hatched and raised herself.

However, a recent hint from House of the Dragon episode 3 director Geeta Vasant Patel stuck with fans: this is how the prequel series connects to Game of Thrones through, this literal Easter egg.

"Those are Daenerys' eggs," Patel confirmed, "All of us who work on this show are big Game of Thrones fans, so it was very exciting to shoot that scene."

The original and prequel series are meant to be connected, anyway, and what better way to celebrate the long-running franchise than through this unmistakable bit of foreshadowing? Stay tuned for more stories like this.
