Actor Song Duk Ho shocked the crew of the drama he had been filming and his fans after he suddenly left the set.

Reports surfaced Tuesday after industry insiders revealed that Song Duk Ho "hurriedly" and "suddenly" stepped down from his new K-drama series, Beneficial Fraud. They claimed that the actor had to do so due to an issue related to his military service.

Song Duk Ho Under Investigation

South Korean government's Military Manpower Administration is currently conducting a large-scale investigation into sports players and entertainers who are reportedly involved in military service corruption.

Song Duk Ho, who notably appeared in Link: Eat, Love, Kill and Hospital Playlist, is being investigated after allegedly evading his military service.

Korea JoongAng Daily cited local news reports and the actor's agency, Bistus Entertainment, which has since released a statement confirming the development. Per the company, he halted his activities amid the investigation.

"Last summer, Song was researching online how to postpone his enlistment when he came across a blog run by 'A,'" the agency said. "After consultation, Song made the wrong choice at the moment and received a grade 4 in his physical evaluation through fraudulent ways, instead of just delaying his enlistment, which was his original intention."

Before Song Duk Ho, it was revealed that Ravi was also embroiled in a similar issue.

Meanwhile, a source from Beneficial Fraud production company, Studio Dragon, confirmed that it is currently in the process of replacing the actor. It added that the investigation and the actor's departure would not affect the schedule.

Song Duk Ho Issues Apology Amid Military Enlistment Evasion Controversy

In the same statement (via Sports Chosun), Song Duk Ho apologized to the public through his agency.

"We're deeply reflecting on this incident and sincerely apologize to the many people who are disappointed," the statement ended.

Song Duk Ho debuted in 2018 through the Korean film, Burning. He then continuously appeared in more movies and K-drama series, including Re-Born, What Happened to Mr. Cha?, Smoke, Happy Together, Missing: The Other Side Season 2, May I Help You, Cheer Up, Juvenile Justice, The Penthouse Season 2, D.P., Hospital Playlist and Hotel del Luna.
