Honest Trailers: The First Three Men in Black Films are the SAME MOVIE

The Men in Black franchise is undergoing the sequel/reboot treatment with Men in Black: International next month, and now ScreenJunkies has released their Honest Trailer take on the first MIB films with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

Suit up for three sci-fi comedies set in an alternate reality where the United States accepts refugees, and join the Men in Black (galaxy defenders!). They’re agents who operate with no accountability, delete people’s memories, keep everyone under surveillance, operate secret prisons, and beat the aliens they police within an inch of their lives… So it’s a screwball comedy about the Deep State, only in the 90s.

Admittedly, the last good Men in Black  movie was the first one, and it’s probably the 90s at its best what with Will Smith getting all dressed up, complete with him just riffing as much as he can. I never really realized before, but every MIB movie really was the same with someone showing an agent the ropes and the McGuffin being under everyone’s noses the whole time.

I also think it’s worth mentioning that Vincent D’Onofrio (a.k.a. Kingpin from Daredevil) does an amazing job as the villain the first movie. I mean, he’s completely convincing as an alien that’s trying to move around in a person’s body. Everything from D’Onofrio’s movement to the way he talked was nothing but spectacular acting.

Will the reboot/sequel manage to put the franchise back on its feet? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Catch MIB: International in theaters June 14.
