Honest Trailer for Steven Spielberg's Hook

Steven Spielberg’s Hook has a very unique place in pop culture, in a sense that a lot of kids have grown fond of the film only to grow up and realize that it has some problems. Now to prepare for the release of Christoper Robin, Screen Junkies has come out with their Honest Trailer for Hook.

Gather ‘round for Spielberg’s least favorite Spielberg movie, even though it’s the best film in the entire Peter Pan-theon; where by best, we mean least racist, most memorable, and containing the least covers of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Someday I’ll actually watch Pan to find out why that’s in there, but today is not that day.

Though a lot of people may trash the movie now, I can still see why it’s a fun kids’ movie. Robin Williams proves to be the most loveable human being in cinema, and Dustin Hoffman gives an absolutely fantastic portrayal as Captain Hook.

Just in case you didn’t know, the actor who plays Rufio, Dante Basco, also provides the voice for Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Prince Zuko; you may also remember him as Jake Long in Disney Channel’s American Dragon.

Spielberg may not be so proud of Hook, but I think it’s still a pretty fun film, even after the Honest Trailer pointed out all its ‘problems’. I guess my nostalgia goggles for this movie are just pretty strong.
