It may not have gotten a ton of buzz during the Winter 2023 season, but the poker anime High Card has proven to be quite a success. This is because High Card Season 2 got a new trailer that reveals new details.

This new trailer for the anime may not be that long, but it did confirm that the anime will feature a returning voice cast.

This should be good news for fans of the show, especially considering how stacked the first season is.

Winter 2023 had some big anime shows, but for the most part, what got the most attention are the delays that rocked the season. After all, Winter 2023 featured lots of high-profile delays for shows such as NieR: Automata Ver1.1a.

What didn’t get affected was High Card, the poker-themed anime that is part of a multimedia franchise that consists of multiple projects.

It may not be as well-known as other big titles, but what is popular is its voice cast.

After all, the series features the likes of Gen Satou (Chrome in Dr. Stone), Haruka Shiraishi (Fumino in We Never Learn), and Rie Takahashi (Ai Hoshino in Oshi no Ko).

It may not be too surprising given that a returning cast is common in season renewals, but it should still be good news for fans of the show that the VAs are confirmed to return in Season 2.

As for the studio, it is also confirmed that Studio Hibari will once again work on the series. This studio is best known for working on titles such as Clean Freak! Aoyama-kun and Tekken: Bloodline.

High Card may have gained lots of fans in Japan thanks to the anime, but this multimedia franchise did not start as an anime.

Instead, a manga for the series was the first to begin. It started serialization in August 2022 in Manga Up.

Aside from the manga, High Card also has a novel adaptation which was also serialized in August via Monthly Newtype magazine.

What’s also interesting about the series is that, aside from the Poker-inspired story and characters, the series also takes inspiration from the Kingsman movies.

High Card Season 2 will be released in January 2024. However, there’s currently no word yet on a specific release date or streaming platform outside of Japan.
