Here’s What Mahershala Ali’s Blade Would Look Like

It's been a while since the release of the last Blade installment, Blade: Trinity, however, there's been a lot of clamor going on for another Blade movie. While most fans would rather see Wesley Snipes make his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reprise his role as the day-walking, vampire-slaying pro that he is, some have thought of other actors to take on the part. One of those actors is Luke Cage villain Mahershala Ali.

Inspired by Ali's recent performance in Robert Rodriguez' cyberpunk action film Alita: Battle Angel, popular fan artist BossLogic decided to turn the actor into Marvel's new Blade, drawing him into everyone's favorite vampire hunter.

Ali certainly has the background to become the new Blade. Not only did he star in comic book series like Luke Cage, but he also won a lot of major awards including an Oscar for his performance in Moonlight and a Golden Globe award for Green Book. If anything, Ali has the experience and the acting chops to become the MCU's new daywalker.

Unfortunately, as exciting as this sounds, fans would most likely want to see Snipes return to the role. The Blade trilogy is a classic, and many fans loved Snipe's portrayal of the vampire hunter. The past few months Snipes has been expressing interest in a comeback, so Ali would probably be playing seconds for the part.

Besides, there doesn't seem to be any new Blade projects in development. As popular as he is, Blade and his gory R-rated stories don't exactly fit in the family-friendly MCU.

Marvel's next film, Avengers: Endgame, premieres April 26, 2019.
