Here’s The Black Widow Standalone Movie’s Working Title

Marvel might be very secretive about its plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Phase 4 of the franchise, but the studio hasn't been that uptight when it comes to the security of its upcoming prequel films like its Black Widow standalone movie. Now that the film is moving closer and closer towards production, Black Widow's working title has finally been revealed.

According to a new report by Production Weekly (via ComicBook.com), Marvel's Black Widow movie is going by the working title Blue Bayou. Production for Scarlett Johansson's first standalone film in the MCU is set to begin in June this year in the United Kingdom.

Though it's filming overseas, the production is likely to take place in Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire. This is the same studio that Marvel's used to film parts of its other films like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, and of course, Guardians of the Galaxy.

While we're not entirely sure whether the production name has anything to do with the song, Blue Bayou was a song originally written and performed by the musician Roy Orbison. Country rocker Linda Ronstadt made the song even more popular once she made her own rendition of Blue Bayou, earning her two Grammy nominations back in 1977.

Right now there's very little information about the film's plot, but the synopsis for Black Widow's production hints at a prequel movie set sometime in between 2005-2006, placing the movie a few years ahead of Iron Man.

Black Widow is to be directed by Cate Shortland. Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Brad Winderbaum are producing the film.

Black Widow is set for release on May 1, 2020.
