Avatar: The Last Airbender fans were in for a surprise this morning when Netflix announced that it was partnering together with Nickelodeon to bring the popular animated television series to life. It's been more than a decade since the Avatar made its way to television and ever since M. Night Shyamalan tried his hand at turning the cartoon into a film that was torn apart by critics, fans lost all sorts of expectations for another Last Airbender adaptation anywhere.

Unfortunately, while news about Avatar's upcoming adaptation from Netflix has gotten fans talking, there's been very few details about the production except the fact that the project is set to begin production next year.

Still, despite the lack of information on the project, fans have been busy posting their responses to the news of Netflix's upcoming Avatar adaptation, and it looks like the reactions have been rather positive. Not only are fans busy gushing on Twitter, but they're also saying that they're shaken to the core.

One, because Nickelodeon gave its blessing to Netflix to work on a live-action Avatar, and two because the original creators of the series are back in business.

Of course not everyone can be all rainbows and sunshine. Giving a more realistic response, some are hoping that Netflix's adaptation of Avatar is going to be good and that the company's going to cast people of color for the series.

Netflix certainly made the right call adapting Avatar. One of the most popular cartoon series of the early 2000s, the critically acclaimed animated series continues to be loved by fans around the globe.

The Avatar live-action series doesn't have a release date yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
