Here’s Brad Bird’s Blunt Response To Parents Complaining About The Incredibles 2

The Incredibles 2 might be experience wave after wave of commercial and critical success as it continues its run in cinemas, but it looks like not everyone's too happy with Brad Bird's sequel to the groundbreaking animated superhero movie he first made in 2004.

Parents have been airing out their grievances against the Incredibles 2 online, some complaining about cuss words, others complaining about how the film bored their four-year-old children.

Responding to parent's criticisms against his film on Twitter, Bird explains that the sequel to the Incredibles isn't anywhere near a "kids movie." Sure it might be animated, but it isn't really meant for children – in fact, the film is rated PG.

With all due respect, it is NOT a "kids movie". It is animated, and rated PG. https://t.co/a6tGzoWvzy

She's FOUR. Presumably, she watched the first one at home, where she could run around, do other things, etc. Are you really asking me to write to suit your 4 year old's (age appropriate) attention span? Do you judge 2&1/2 hour Marvel or Lucasfilm movies the same way? https://t.co/SRGPrymgB8

It's such a shame that Bird has to defend his work from angry parents around the globe. Though the Incredibles 2 doesn't necessarily really live up to the original, it sure does come close, and in some ways, it even exceeds the original Incredibles movie. Still anchored by the struggles of a superhero family as its main theme, Incredibles 2 goes on to tackle other complex topics like gender roles, the father's place in the family, the dangers of media, and feminism. Incredibles 2 might not have felt as personal as the first film, but it sure did have more layers to it – making the film more for adults than for children. There's a reason why the Motion Picture Association of America rated Incredibles 2 PG.

The Incredibles 2 is currently screening in cinemas.
