Henry Cavill's career suffered two major blows this year after it was confirmed that he'll no longer play both Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher and Superman in the DC Universe. Not long after the disheartening news, Cavill himself announced that he's doing a live-action adaptation of Warhammer 40,000 at Amazon so he still managed to end the year on a promising note.

Still, fans are convinced that the silver lining of it all is for Henry to finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even before his Superman status was decided, the 39-year-old British star has been heavily rumored to be joining the billion-dollar franchise, with reports suggesting he's either playing Captain Britain or Hyperion although he already dismissed the latter.

Now, a new report claims that Cavill is the frontrunner to become Britain's counterpart of the Star-Spangled Man. As per the latest scoop from Giant Freakin Robot, Marvel Studios is currently eyeing Cavill to play Brian Braddock in the MCU. The casting is reportedly being discussed for Captain America: New World Order but no other details were disclosed by the outlet's source.

Considering the Captain America franchise has always featured political undertones and a more grounded theme, it would make absolute sense for a character like Captain Britain to join the film.

I gotta say though, New World Order is already looking pretty stacked and I'm not quite sure where Braddock would fit in storywise. It might end up becoming an overkill unless the plan is to put him in the post-credits scene.

Captain America: New World Order is slated for release on May 3, 2024.
