Henry Cavill Reportedly Wants To Keep His Superman Role For Man Of Steel 2

Henry Cavill's future in the DC Extended Universe might seem uncertain with Warner Brothers focusing on films like Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Wonder Woman 1984 and The Batman, but the British actor still seems to want to hold on to his Superman cape.

Graphic designer and podcaster Roger Roecken just recently took to Twitter to announce that he had actually met Cavill at San Diego Comic-Con and that he had learned that the actor actually wants to continue playing the DCEU's Son of Krypton, hopefully in Man of Steel 2.

"He said he still wants to play superman. Wants a sequel to Man of Steel. Wants to explore how it affects someone with absolute power, so many stories to tell what makes him tick," Roecken explained in his tweet.

It's nice to see Cavill holding on to his Superman role. We would think that the actor would be too busy to think about the DCEU – the DC star is currently set to play the lead role in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher books.

Not only that, but there have been rumors that Warner Brothers was planning on dropping Cavill from its superhero roster.

Still, we're not really sure about what DC has planned for Kal-El. There's barely been any word about the DCEU's plans outside the slate that it's already provided. It doesn't help that Warner Brothers decided to skip out on this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Hopefully, the studio will announce its plans soon before the release of Matt Reeve's comic book character study movie, The Joker.

The Joker premieres on October 4, 2019.
