As Henry Cavill's Superman future becomes more questionable by the day, there's been ongoing speculation that the actor is leaving the DC Extended Universe for good to jump ship to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to the latest rumors, Warner Bros. has been trying to close a new deal with the British actor but he's declined the studio's offer to reprise his role as the Man of Steel.

Now, the real question is, should Cavill actually make the shocking jump to the MCU, which character could he end up playing? Well, a new rumor suggests that it'll be something similar to his role as the beloved DC superhero.

According to a recent scoop from CineStealth, Cavill is joining the cast of Loki Season 2 as Hyperion. For the uninitiated, Hyperion is essentially Marvel's answer to DC's Man of Steel and while it can be argued that Marvel has a lot of Superman-esque characters, Hyperion is definitely the closest to Kal-El, except he's actually a villain.

Of course, it's just a rumor so you better take it with a huge grain of salt. I gotta say though, the idea of Cavill playing a character similar to Superman doesn't exactly appeal to me, and no offense to the creators of Hyperion, but I feel like it would be too much of a downgrade for the actor.

Obviously, with almost every top-tier character in the Marvel universe already taken, it would be tough to find a role that would suit Cavill so I guess the D-list route is the only way to go.

Loki Season 2 is currently in production.
